UMR Applauds NIH Funding in House LHHS FY26 Appropriations Bill, Encourages Quick Passage

September 2, 2025

The nearly $48 billion for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) included in the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies Subcommittee’s Fiscal Year FY26 funding bill is good news for patients, researchers and others who rely on strong and stable funding for medical research.

We are grateful for the leadership of Chairs Tom Cole and Robert Aderholt and for the longstanding support for medical research of Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro. UMR encourages the Subcommittee to continue its bipartisan support for robust NIH funding in its mark up this evening, and for the House to work quickly with the Senate to ensure continued, strong funding for the NIH this month.
