Summary
Research funded by the National Institutes of Health saves lives, improves health and offers hope to people the world-over affected by disease. This research funding also has a positive economic impact across the United States. For each of the past several years, UMR has commissioned an analysis of jobs and economic activity supported by NIH research funding in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. In fiscal year 2019, NIH research funding supported nearly 476,000 jobs and more than $81 billion in economic activity.
